what to feed an older horse
Hi i have an older mare that is 24. I am not sure on what to feed her so i am sure she is getting enough proteins and whatnot in her daily feed. If anyone has suggestions i would greatly appreciate it

We feed all our older horses
We feed all our older horses either Purina's Equine Senior pellets or Southern States brand senior feed. We fed our thoroughbred about 8-10 lbs. a day.

I have a horse that is 36 and I feed a ration called equine senior mixed with either rolled corn or steam rolled oats. He looks as healthy and is as active as a 15 year old.

I had a gelding that lived to be 36. Loved him dearly and fed him 12 percent mixed feed. Actually, all they need is roughage such as a good mixed hay but wanted to give him a little more. Also, daily vitamins in the feed are great for an older horse.
Make sure that you are
Make sure that you are supplemeting with a quality number one or number 2 cut of alfalfa.
I think it's Purina who makes
I think it's Purina who makes "Equine Senior." Just ask at your feed store for a good grade of feed for older horses.
Hi have a a 23 year old mare
Hi have a a 23 year old mare and she is on 4 acres of grass but we still feed her in the summer just a plain oat and cracked corn mix and then in the winther she gets either John Lyonn Senior or she gets Sweet 16. They both are great. fell free to email me at farm_gurl_88@hotmail.com
