A plague of grasshoppers. No, not little kids learning kungfu. Serious. Grasshoppers like in locust.

As if the economy and the people of the United States of America don't have enough problems. Now, today, March 29, 2010,  The Wall Street Journal, in a report, warns us to expect a plague of locust this spring. Locust? Grasshoppers.

"Farmers and ranchers across the West are bracing for a grasshopper infestation that could devastate millions of acres of crops and land used for grazing. Over the coming weeks, federal officials say, grasshoppers will likely hatch in bigger numbers than any year since 1985. Hungry swarms caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damage that year when they devoured corn, barley, alfalfa, beets—even fence posts and the paint off the sides of barns." 

Well, locust! As if the plague of the reckless investment bankers weren't enough to almost ruin us all, now our farmers are bracing themselves for locust and we, consumers, had better brace ourselves for higher food prices.
